Connect to Lansenger | LanMate User Guide

Connect to Lansenger

Connecting to Lansenger links LanMate with a Lansenger personal-bot channel, bringing AI assistant capabilities into Lansenger. Once connected, you can chat with your personal bot right inside Lansenger, and messages from Lansenger sync to the LanMate client — making it easy to review channel conversation records on your computer anytime.

LanMate supports multi-device sign-in. Each device can create its own independent personal bot without affecting the others.

Connecting to Lansenger

The connection entry is in the user menu at the bottom of the LanMate client’s sidebar — click “Connect to Lansenger” to open the connection dialog. Two connection methods are supported: One-Click Connect and Custom Connect.

One-Click Connect

One-Click Connect is the preferred method. You don’t need to know technical details like API parameters or key configuration — the system automatically creates the personal bot and connects the channel.

  1. Click “Connect to Lansenger” in the user menu at the bottom of the sidebar to open the connection guide dialog.
  2. Click the “One-Click Connect” button. The button enters a loading state — don’t click it repeatedly.
  3. Wait while the system automatically creates the Lansenger personal bot. During creation, the current device’s host name is attached automatically to distinguish bots from different devices.
  4. Once created, the dialog switches to the connected state, showing the current device’s bot information, and a channel-conversation entry appears in the sidebar’s conversation history area.

One-Click Connect requires Lansenger platform version 5.9 or later. If the platform version doesn’t meet the requirement, the system prompts “The current Lansenger platform version does not support automatically creating a personal bot” and automatically guides you to Custom Connect.

A bot created via One-Click Connect has the default name “LanMateBot · device host name” and the default description “Personal intelligent assistant bot.” You can change them yourself after creation.

Custom Connect

When One-Click Connect isn’t available, or you want to use an existing bot, choose Custom Connect and fill in the connection parameters manually. Bots can be created in the Lansenger client under “Contacts - Smart Bots - Create Bot.”

  1. In the connection dialog, click “Custom Connect” to enter the configuration page.
  2. Fill in the following required fields in order:
    • App ID: The Lansenger app ID.
    • App Secret: The Lansenger app secret, entered as a password and shown as dots.
    • API Gateway URL: The Lansenger service address, which must be a valid URL.
  3. Once all three fields are filled in, click the “Connect” button.
  4. Once connected, the configuration is saved automatically and the dialog switches to the connected state.

Notes while filling in: the “Connect” button is not clickable while any field is empty; if the API Gateway URL is malformed, a hint appears below the input box — fix it and retry; if you close the dialog while connecting, this connection attempt is interrupted and the configuration is not saved.

Managing After Connecting

Viewing Connection Status

Once connected, open the connection dialog again to view the current connection status, including the connected indicator, connection time, and the bot’s name and description.

Editing Bot Information

Bots created via One-Click Connect support editing the name and description:

  1. In the connected-state dialog, click the edit icon next to the bot name.
  2. Edit the name and description in the “Edit Bot Information” dialog; the name is required.
  3. Click “Save.” Once saved, the name and description update in sync on both the Lansenger client and LanMate sides.

Bots connected via Custom Connect cannot have their name and description edited in LanMate.

Channel Conversations

Once connected, a channel-conversation entry appears in the sidebar’s conversation history area, showing the bot name. Click it to enter the channel conversation page and view the message records from the Lansenger channel.

Note that channel conversations are view-only — you can’t send messages from the LanMate client, and the page’s input box is disabled. To chat with the AI assistant, send messages via the personal bot in Lansenger; the conversation content syncs to the client automatically. There’s only one conversation for the Lansenger channel — no switching between multiple conversations. When Lansenger isn’t connected, the channel-conversation entry doesn’t appear in the sidebar.

Unbinding

If you no longer need the Lansenger channel feature, or need to recreate the bot, you can unbind:

  1. In the connected-state dialog, click “Unbind.”
  2. Confirm the operation in the confirmation dialog. After unbinding, the personal bot app is deleted, and messages from the Lansenger channel no longer sync to the client.
  3. Once unbound, the local configuration is cleared and the sidebar channel-conversation entry disappears. If you were on the channel conversation page at the time, you’re automatically returned to the home page.

To use it again after unbinding, go through the connection flow again.

Multi-Device Use

LanMate supports signing in with the same account on multiple devices (e.g., macOS and Windows). Data isn’t synced across devices, so each device needs to create its own independent personal bot. When creating, the system automatically captures the device host name, and in the Lansenger client you can see the different bots named “LanMateBot · device host name,” making it easy to identify and manage each device’s connection.
